Celebrating 30 Years of Hydro Tec
2025 was a key year for Hydro Tec—not only for the results achieved but also because it marked an important milestone: thirty years since the studio was founded. This anniversary also coincides with a broader professional journey: forty years of activity for engineer Sergio Cutolo, founder of Hydro Tec alongside his wife Silvia Himsolt, who thirty years ago established an independent studio with a clear vision of naval engineering and design.
This vision began to define a real turning point more than fifteen years ago with the Naumachos 82, developed with the Cantieri di Pesaro. The project was ahead of its time, giving rise to the pocket explorer yacht phenomenon, opening a new market segment, and proposing a different way of understanding the yacht: compact, solid, reliable, and designed for true long-range navigation.
In 2025, thirty years after the studio’s founding, Hydro Tec chose to reinvent that concept, starting precisely from there. During the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, Vagrant was presented—a concept developed to celebrate this anniversary. Not merely a design exercise, it is a manifesto project: a contemporary pocket explorer that reinterprets the original values—functionality, robustness, efficiency—in light of current technologies and needs. Vagrant represents our vision of the yacht of the future: a vessel designed with an integrated approach, where naval architecture, engineering, and design interact coherently, with a strong focus on performance, autonomy, sustainability, and onboard quality of life.
